NextNet Teams With iMax for Philippines Broadband Access

MINNEAPOLIS - Broadband wireless access provider NextNet Wireless has paired with Internet Service Provider iMax Communications Inc. to deliver non-line-of-sight broadband wireless services in the Philippines using NextNet’s Expedience system.
IMax will being offering the service this summer, targeting business and residential subscribers in Manila. "NextNet is uniquely situated to help us reach our objective of delivering future 4G mobile voice, video and data service," said Mel Velarde, president and chief executive officer of iMax. "We are extremely energized by the proven success of the NextNet NLOS business model, and we look forward to launching service in Manila and expanding nationwide."
Next Mobile (formerly Nextel Philippines) will provide the infrastructure and personnel to implement and manage the iMax network buildout.
